With the support of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, in 2009 Dr. Frederick Luis Aldama founded L.A.S.E.R.
The vision and practice:
- To sponsor high-profile activities and events that study Latinos within and across the Americas with the aim of bringing together students, staff, and faculty from across the Ohio State University.
- To create a total mentoring system from high school through undergraduate and graduate school for Latinos and those focused on the studies of the Latin/o Americas.
- Provide research support and awards for undergraduates and graduate students to recognize significant achievement of academic milestones such as completion of a significant research project, successful completion of mentoring program, and innovation in the areas of scholarship and creativity.
